Teachers and parents around the world are using Flash Reading. It is a humorous and recognized way to improve children's reading skills.

It's very simple: Edi the Giraffe flashes words for split seconds, and the child must recognize and then accurately reproduce them. The difficulty, word selection, and number of rounds can be easily tailored to the child's level.

Flash Reading is based on basic vocabulary and includes the 500 (optional: 1000) most common words in the German language. English words can also be practiced. Additionally, you can create your own word lists. The app is designed for parents and their children as well as for use in schools - developed by experts and recommended by teachers.

Why Flash Reading?

At the beginning of the reading learning process, children read each letter of a word individually. They then put them together at the end of the word to form a meaningful expression. In a later phase, they grasp each word as a whole, without going through the individual letters step by step.

Children often struggle with the transition from the first to this second phase. Grasping words as a whole is optimally trained with Flash Reading. In this short flash phase, the child has no chance to perceive the letters individually.

Therefore, the app is often used for reading training in schools. Flash Reading is particularly suitable for children with dyslexia.

Game Modes

• Teacher Mode: Here you can actively accompany the child's learning process: You sit next to the child, which tells you the words it has recognized verbally. You decide if the answer is correct and can adjust the pace to the child's progress at any time.
• Alone Mode: You can also let the child work alone. In this mode, the student enters the flashed word via text input - and the app itself checks if the answer is correct. This way, spelling is trained in addition to reading ability. Depending on success, the child unlocks rewards in the form of cute animals.
